Cool Room & Freezer Flooring

14 reviews

Seamless, non-slip flooring built for cool rooms, chillers and freezers.

Cold storage is one of the toughest environments a floor will ever face. Low temperatures, condensation, constant moisture, regular washdown and forklift traffic all work together to break down surfaces that weren’t designed for it, and a failing floor in a cool room quickly becomes a hygiene and safety problem.

We install seamless resin flooring systems for cool rooms, chillers and industrial freezers across Perth and WA, including food production, dairy, hospitality and warehouse environments.

Why Seamless Flooring Suits Cold Storage

Resin flooring is non-porous, resistant to low temperatures and installed with no joins or gaps for moisture to get into. In food storage and preparation areas, that matters, because the floor has to resist pathogens and bacteria, cope with constant moisture, and hold up under strict food industry requirements.

  • Non-porous, bacteria-resistant surface
  • Performs in low-temperature environments
  • Non-slip finish suited to wet and cold conditions
  • Handles forklift and pallet traffic
  • Easy to wash down and sanitise
  • Fast, staged installation to limit disruption

Slip Resistance in the Cold

Condensation, frost and washdown water make cold rooms a real slip hazard. We build the non-slip profile into the system rather than relying on a light surface texture, with R12 rated finishes used on cold storage projects. The aggregate is matched to the environment so the floor stays grippy and still cleans down properly.

Installing When the Room Can't Shut Down

Many cool rooms can’t simply be switched off. On a dairy cool room project, production couldn’t stop and the room couldn’t be turned off, so we repaired the cracked concrete, levelled the floor and installed a 7mm seamless system with R12 non-slip across about 400 m², finished on time with minimal interference to daily production. On a Canning Vale food production facility, we upgraded roughly 600 m² of worn chiller and freezer floors in stages to keep the operation running.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can epoxy be installed in a cool room that's still operating?
In many cases, yes. We plan the work in stages and choose systems suited to the temperature conditions, so the facility can keep operating. We'll assess your cooling and production requirements before confirming how the install can be sequenced.
Why do cool room floors fail?
Most failures come from moisture getting under the surface, freeze-thaw movement, forklift wear and poor preparation. A floor that isn't seamless or properly bonded to the slab will start to lift, crack or break down over time.
What non-slip rating is right for a freezer?
Wet, cold environments typically need a high-grade, embedded non-slip profile, and R12 is commonly used for cold storage. We assess how the room is used and cleaned before recommending a rating.
Do cool room floors need coving?
Yes, in most food-related cold storage. Coving removes the sharp junction between floor and wall where moisture and bacteria collect, and helps the room meet hygiene requirements.
Can an old, damaged cool room floor be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, yes. Cracked, worn or uneven floors can usually be repaired and levelled before a new system goes down, so you don't have to remove the whole slab.
