A new-build floor gets one chance to be done properly. Once racking is in, machinery is bolted down and operations have started, fixing a floor means shutdowns, relocations and cost. Getting the flooring system right before handover is far cheaper than getting it wrong and fixing it later.
We install epoxy and resin flooring for new warehouses, factories and industrial developments across Perth and WA. We work with builders, project managers, fit-out companies and owners to specify the right system early and install it in step with the rest of your program.
A new slab isn’t automatically ready for coating. Fresh concrete can hold moisture, carry a weak surface layer, and vary in flatness, and a system applied over any of those problems can fail early, even though the slab looks clean and untouched.
Moisture: we test the slab before coating rather than assuming it’s ready
Surface condition: new slabs are mechanically ground to remove the weak surface layer and create a profile the resin can bond to
Joints and cracks: saw cuts, construction joints and early shrinkage cracks are assessed and treated so they don’t telegraph through the new floor
Falls and drainage: floors are detailed to the falls your design calls for, so water goes where it should
Coving and edges: wall junctions, columns and plinths are finished properly for cleaning and durability
The best time to choose a flooring system is before the building is operating. We work from your intended use, including forklift traffic, racking loads, chemical exposure, washdown, hygiene requirements and slip ratings, and recommend a system to match. That avoids the common problem of an all-purpose coating that suits the building on handover day but not the way it’s used a year later.
We know a floor isn’t the only trade on site. We plan around your sequence, access and handover dates, and stage large areas so installation fits around other works instead of holding them up. Early involvement lets us advise on slab finish, joint layout and curing times while those decisions can still be made easily.
If you’re upgrading an existing facility instead of fitting out a new one, see our Warehouse & Factory Flooring page. Older floors can usually be repaired, levelled and coated without removing the concrete, and we can stage the work around your operation.
As early as possible, ideally at design stage. Decisions about slab finish, joint layout, falls and system type are far easier before concrete is poured, and early advice helps avoid a floor that needs rework after handover.
It depends on the slab, the conditions and the system. New concrete needs to be sufficiently cured and tested for moisture before coating, so we assess it on site rather than working to a fixed date.
Yes. A freshly poured or power-floated slab usually carries a smooth, weak surface layer that coatings don’t bond to reliably. Mechanical grinding removes it and creates a profile the resin can grip.
Often, with planning. We stage the work and coordinate access and sequencing with your program, though dust, traffic and other works can affect timing, so earlier conversations help.
Floor plans or areas, intended use, traffic and loading, any hygiene or slip requirements, and your program dates. From there we can recommend a system and confirm a realistic installation window.
